How it works in Georgia
- Georgia Access, not HealthCare.gov. Since 2025 coverage, Georgians shop for Marketplace plans through Georgia Access, the state's own Marketplace. You can enroll on the Georgia Access website, through a certified enrollment partner, or with the help of an agent.
- Open Enrollment dates. Georgia Access posts the same dates as HealthCare.gov this year: Nov 1, 2026 to Jan 15, 2027. Enroll by Dec 15 for coverage starting January 1; Dec 16 to Jan 15 means a February 1 start.
- Income-based savings still apply. Premium tax credits work the same way in Georgia Access as on HealthCare.gov. Here's how they work.
- Medicaid. Georgia hasn't fully expanded Medicaid. Georgia Pathways offers limited coverage for adults with incomes up to 100% of the federal poverty level who meet monthly work or activity requirements. If your income is very low, call me and we'll look at what's open to you.
Who I help in Georgia
I work with Georgians by phone and text, from metro Atlanta to the smallest county. If you're self-employed, gig or contract working, between jobs or retired before 65, and you don't get insurance through work, you're who I help every day.
Marketplace plans and private plans, side by side
Because I'm independent, I can show you more than one kind of coverage:
- ACA Marketplace plans (through Georgia Access) follow ACA rules: they cover pre-existing conditions and essential health benefits, and they're the only plans that come with the premium tax credit.
- Private plans sold outside the Marketplace are not ACA plans. They're medically underwritten, so approval isn't guaranteed, and they may not cover pre-existing conditions. They don't come with tax credits. For some healthy people, or people who don't qualify for much savings, they can be worth comparing.
I'll explain the trade-offs in plain English so you can decide what fits. You pick; I never push.
